The heart felt a desire to pay a tribute penning the review of a classic 1964 movie – Woh Kaun thi. Starring Sadhanaji and Manojji, the movie was a great entertainer telling a dramatic horror story combined with touch of pure romance. The parts of the movie is very well woven and the suspense keeps the viewer glued to the movie. Sadhana madam breathed life into the movie with her role and her simple attire made her look so stunningly beautiful – of course, simplicity did matter back then and it was indeed beautiful.
The movie is about a doctor encountering a mysterious lady stranger one rainy night, while on his way back home and she disappears into the night indicating herself to be a ghost. His life turns upside down when the same lady enters his life as his partner. The rest of the story is whether the husband solves the mystery behind the real form of his wife, actually a human or a ghost and also unearthen the reason of her presence in his life and her frequent encounters with him.
The music of the movie is strong enough to pull out the goose bumps on the skin, especially when Lataji’s voice touches the soul so deeply.
Naina barse and Lag ja gale are songs that have been evergreen hits.
Heart touching lines – Humko mili hain aaj yeh ghadiyaan naseeb se, jee bhar ke dekh lijiye humko qareeb se, paas aayiye ke hum nahin aayenge baar baar, phir aapke naseeb mein yeh baat ho na ho, shaayad phir is janam mein mulaaqaat ho na ho……..
